Grand ChapterJanuary 12, 2022The Moving Wall

In 2016 a group of 12 Post and Auxiliary members fundraised over $23,000 to bring the Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial Wall to Dexter Maine in May of 2017, marking its first visit to the area. This event required the coordination of over 100 volunteers and numerous local non profits to facilitate the visit. The visit saw over 3000 visitors to the memorial, consisting of local school children, area residents and most importantly numerous Vietnam veterans who could not travel to Washington D.C., to see the memorial for the first time. A number of Vietnam veterans spoke to volunteers about never being able to approach the Wall in Washington D.C. as it was too emotional, but were able to approach and find their comrades names listed on the Traveling Wall in Dexter.
